What it is

In-page push ads, explained.

In-page push ads (sometimes called "native push" or "in-feed push") are HTML elements embedded directly into publisher pages that look and behave like classic push notifications. The user doesn't need to be subscribed to anything. The ad renders inside the page they're already reading, styled to mimic the OS-level push notification they're already familiar with.

This format exists primarily because iOS Safari doesn't support web push subscriptions. About 30% of global web traffic is iOS Safari, a huge market entirely invisible to classic push campaigns. In-page push reaches those users plus everyone else (Chrome, Firefox, Edge desktop and mobile), making it the most universally available push-style format. It tends to convert slightly below classic push (because the user isn't actively in their notification tray), but it more than makes up for it in raw reach.

How it works

From bid to conversion in milliseconds.

01

Publisher embeds widget

Mondiad's in-page push widget is added to publisher sites via a single script tag.

02

Widget loads in-page

When a user visits, the widget renders a notification-styled ad in the corner of the screen, with no system permission needed.

03

You bid via auction

Your campaign targets the page context, user device, GEO and vertical. Real-time bidding under 50ms.

04

Click β†’ conversion

User clicks the in-page notification, lands on your offer. Full attribution via S2S postback.

Use cases

What in-page push works best for.

The verticals and campaign types where this format consistently outperforms alternatives.

iOS-heavy GEOs

US, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan. Markets where iOS market share is 40%+. Classic push misses most of these users; in-page picks them up.

Streaming & content sites

Reading-context placement converts well because users are already engaged with the page when the notification appears.

Sweepstakes

Works similarly to classic push, but you get the iOS tier-1 audience that classic push can't see.

Mobile utilities

VPN apps especially. iOS users are the highest-CPA segment, and you can't reach them via classic push.

Dating

Particularly mainstream dating where iOS demographics skew higher-quality.

E-commerce

Cart abandonment retargeting via in-page push has good incremental ROI vs banner retargeting.

When to pick this format

In-page push vs the alternatives.

The honest take on when this format wins and when another format wins.

vs classic push

In-page push reaches iOS and non-subscribed users; classic push needs an opt-in. CTRs are slightly lower but reach is 30-40% larger.

vs banner

Higher CTR than banners on the same inventory. Notification-style design cuts through banner blindness.

vs native

Native blends with content. In-page push intentionally stands out. Different psychology; both work for different goals.

vs interstitial

Less intrusive than interstitial. In-page push is dismissible and non-blocking.

Case study

"Switched our US iOS sweepstakes funnel from native to in-page push. CPA dropped from $4.20 to $2.85 in the first two weeks. Reach went up 40% because we're finally getting iOS Safari users."
